Artist's Comments

BEHOLD, THE PHOTOSHOP ARTWORK ENTRY THAT ONE NUMBER 1 IN THE NATION! =P Well, technically it won "Superior", the highest grade... and it was the only one in that category... SO NUMBAH ONE, according to the JEA (Journalism Education Association) and NSPA (National Student Press Association).

I'd like to proudly point out I presented this to the judges in PURPLE CAT EARS, PURPLE STRIPED KNEE HIGH SOCKS, AND A PURPLE SKIRT. Thus, the art and the artist both stood out. XD And for originality points I cat walked with my entry around the room. XP

Still can't believe I won. I was clinging on to Rodney's arm when I didn't win Honorable Mention or Excellent. I totally wasn't expecting the highest rank, especially when there was only one. @_@

Yesterday the yearbook was released featuring the 30th Anniversary theme, "Changing Tides." We have come a long way... approximately 200 days of hell (well, not all the time), but I am grateful that we lived and the yearbook was a success albeit some mistakes. ;P

Anyways, this is the artwork featured on yearbook cover put together by me with approx. 36 hours spent. A lot of the vector shapes (circles are easy), won't name them all but I'm proud of how the wave, silhouettes, and the Space Needle; that was a pain to make btw. The Tacoma Narrows is also featured on there! =D

So, time to give credit where credit is due...

:iconmelemel: for permission to use her Stalk Brushes [link]
:iconredheadstock: I THINK I used some of his brushes. XD [link]
:iconneotom130: I used 3 of his brushes. [link]
:iconpaulw: Arrow brushes~ [link]
And to the Tsunami Yearbook staff who helped me pick the colors and the shapes to make. ^^

EDIT: OK, I've been receiving criticism over how I've used the brushes of other people to create this. I give credit where credit is due, and when I presented my entry I cited where I got my Photoshop brushes from. When people create those brushes, they want people to use them and benefit from them through artistic work.

This may be a combination of the brush images of other people, but compiling it together is A LOT of work. Try working with over 200+ players, then picking out colors and blending them together. Not to mention vectoring out the Space Needle, Tacoma Narrows, the fish, the wave, the jumping kids, etc.

I will admit the design idea came from *whitefrosty's [link] yearbook cover design. At first they look alike but there are some significant differences between our design... I'd say what's most notable about our designs was the choice of 2 silhouettes, the affinity for circles, and the yellow circle thing. The Tsunami staff wanted to me to re-create that in order to throw our embossed stamp in it. Oh, and the treble clef, which was really weird because I didn't notice that in her design and I made one from scratch.

I am sorry.
